It’s been more than fifty years since I played the piano for my grandfather in this photo. Neither of us could have predicted that I’d subsequently spend about 45 years playing professionally on both sides of the Atlantic in groups of various sizes, from trios to 17-piece bands.

This CD was made in 2005, with solo interpretations of the following standards:

Stella by Starlight
Memories of You
I'm Old Fashioned
When October Goes
What Kind of Fool am I ?
Autumn in New York/Manhattan
Laura
All the Things You Are
The Masquerade is Over
I've Got the World on a String
Everything Happens to Me
Here's that Rainy Day
Autumn Leaves
I Fall in Love Too Easily

The CD is available for $8.98 at cdbaby.com, and I’m grateful to the two following reviewers at that site:

Colin Redfern sounds better than ever in this 2005 collection of standards. I've now played parts of this CD to a variety of friends, each having their own favorites. Autumn in New York and When October Goes are two of mine. Colin plays the piano the way Tiger Woods plays golf - it seems too effortless to be this smooth and good!

On this new piano CD, Colin Redfern floats and ripples his way through fourteen well-chosen, mostly bittersweet standards, in his own lush and jazz-influenced style. Redfern has fine virtuoso ability, and yet he plays without any egotistical grand-standing or other flashy gimmickry that would block the listener from the deep and full appreciation of the beauty of these songs. If you want to feel pampered and relaxed, if you want to be swept away on rose-tinted clouds of music, if you want to walk down a luscious 'memory lane' of classic songs, then this CD is for you.
